How the AI Separates Questions on a Worksheet
When you scan a full worksheet, the AI needs to determine where one question ends and the next begins. Our system uses multiple cues to achieve this: numbered questions (1, 2, 3...), lettered sections (a, b, c...), visual spacing between problems, horizontal line dividers, and changes in question type or format. The algorithm handles worksheets with single-column layouts, double-column layouts, and even mixed layouts where some questions span the full width while others are arranged side by side. This intelligent segmentation is what allows us to provide individual answers for each question rather than treating the entire page as one large problem.
For worksheets with unusual formatting, such as questions arranged in tables, problems embedded within word search grids, or questions that wrap around images, the AI applies additional layout analysis. It identifies text blocks, associates them with nearby question numbers, and reconstructs the logical order of questions even when the spatial layout is non-linear. Can it scan worksheets with images and diagrams?
Yes. The worksheet scanner reads text, images, diagrams, data tables, graphs, and charts. When a question references a specific figure on the worksheet, the scanner identifies the figure and uses the visual information it contains in its answer. For best results, make sure the entire worksheet including all images is visible in your scan. If a diagram is too small to read clearly, scan just that section at higher zoom.
What if my worksheet has questions on both sides?
Scan each side of the worksheet separately. The scanner processes each scan independently and provides a complete answer set for each side. If questions on the back reference information from the front (such as data tables or reading passages), include both scans in the same session so the AI can cross-reference the content. The batch scanning feature lets you queue multiple scans before processing, which is ideal for double-sided worksheets and multi-page assignments.
How many questions can it handle on one page?
The scanner can process worksheets with up to 50 individual questions on a single page. For worksheets with more than 50 questions, we recommend scanning the page in two sections (top half and bottom half) for maximum accuracy. Most standard worksheets contain between 10 and 30 questions per page, which is well within the optimal range for our full-page scanning algorithm.
Trying to Scan a Test or Quiz?
